The Contenders 2011: Best Costume Design

Hugo_medium
2/20 Thoughts: Perhaps the toughest to predict of all the technical categories, this one truly feels like it could go any of four ways -- and I'm not sure the Guild awards later this week will do much to clarify things. BAFTA opted for "The Artist," but voters have felt less inclined to honor Best Picture contenders here in recent years, prioritizing period spectacle ahead of their regard for the film. That could bode well for "Anonymous" -- but I still guessing "Jane Eyre" may offer them a compelling combination of respectability and elaborate corsetry. --Guy Lodge
