9cinematography_big An absolute embarrassment of riches. Lubezki could repeat with a vision in "Birdman" that transcends. Deakins could finally get there with "Unbroken," a classical sort of project that allows him to really put on a show. Van Hoteyma could even take it on his first bid for a project that, like a number of recent winners in this category, seems tied at the hip to visual effects. There's so much interesting work in this field already this year that it's difficult to squeeze much of it into this tiny space.
