The Contenders 2011: Best Actor

George_medium
2/20 Thoughts: As expected, Jean Dujardin consolidated his surprise SAG win with a BAFTA, sealing his status as the man to beat in what until recently was the most pliable of the acting races. In truth, Dujardin has always been at the top of our list: however much people like his work in "The Descendants," the case for giving George Clooney a second Oscar just isn't compelling enough. What's more surprising is that the still Oscar-less Brad Pitt hasn't managed to parlay any of the goodwill towards him and "Moneyball" into a single win beyond the critics' circuit. --Guy Lodge
