Yea a lot of their stuff feels dated but the band has a great group of musical talent in it and I'm sure they could do something more representative of today, plus the 90s are kinda making a comeback so I'm sure their sound would be widely accepted by new audiences. I still love this band.

Well, they DID come out of the mid-90's. Thank God they did, because I was pretty well and sick of grunge around the time they popped up. Yes, Garbage WAS that good to begin with, but they are also a product of their time. So it certainly wasn't timeless music, but it has its place. I am a huge fan of "Garbage" and "Version 2.0" and one of my absolute favorite songs by them is on "Beautiful Garbage," "Parade." If I ever want to be taken back to a specific moment in time, Garbage can certainly do the job for me.

Like anything in life, I guess it's all personal preference and experiential. Garbage is absolutely important to my life, so that's where I'm coming from.

Good point, they're not gonna mount an Aerosmith-like comeback, popping up a decade or so later and bringing in a bajillion new fans. I look at this as more of a reunion. Make some music, do some tours, probably move on as well at that point. I'm sure enough fans still care and would be more than happy to see them live again (I've seen them twice now touring the first album). But this won't be a rebirth by any stretch of the imagination.

Very good. I saw them twice (once opening for another band) and Shirley Manson is quite a presence on stage with a voice that I think is actually better live, strange as that may seem (I suspect they over-processed her too much on the records).

The rest of the band, live, I would describe as "professional". They weren't particularly exciting, but they more or less managed to play all the notes in the right order at the right time. Whatever the case is in the studio live they'd be nothing without Manson fronting the show.

They already moved past the 90's; 2005's Garbage was both well reviewed and sold well. I personally like a lot of tracks on that record. They ended up having to deal with a lot of drama when it came time to tour in support of it - Butch Vig was sick, so a replacement filled in for him on quite a few shows, and there were other problems I can't recall at the moment - so it didn't stay on the radar as long as it probably could have, but it did show they had a career past 1998.

And of course Beautiful Garbage was in 2001, but it definitely had a 90's feel to it, and didn't really take off in the market (probably didn't help it was released the week after 9/11).
