I think the Hunger Games movie will be as good as the book

I read the first book of the Hunger Games last weekend. I'd heard it was supposed to be good, but I was surprised how good. I blew through it in two sittings.

I've never read a book that I thought would translate so well on to the big screen. The plot is solid, but not so complex that it won't fit into two hours. There aren't a bunch of hidden motivations or inner dialogue and there are plenty of great action scenes.

I can't wait!

I thought the trailer was fairly true to the book (with the exception perhaps of what the districts look like), which gave me some confidence that this movie is going to be a must-see.

I heard some other people say they thought District 12 looked too clean in the trailer, but I didn't really notice one way or the other. I think I was more focused on who they'd chosen to play each character. Woody Harrelson is a perfect person to play Haymitch! I expect him to play a good drunk.

I just sat down with Woody Harrelson this morning to talk about "Rampart," but we also talked a little bit about the crushing weight of expectation when it comes to "Hunger Games." He seemed happy with the movie and the experience, though, and I've talked to people who have been working on and around it. So far, it sounds like it's coming together pretty well.
