I admit it's been a while since I've read "A Storm of Swords," but am I wrong in remembering Gendry staying with the Brotherhood? And also, is that really what happened to Ros?

He did. Their was another bastard of Roberts on dragonstone that the red headed lady took. And the Ros thing didn't happen either.

I'm halfway through the fourth book, starting the, after season 2 ended on hbo....there's quite a bit in storm of swords that's different, but the main points seem to be hit. Although maybe I'm watching some things I haven't read yet....like theon. He wasn't even in storm of swords as far as I can remember.

"* Walder Frey turns out to be more open to forgiving Robb than we might have expected — with a lot of help from Uncle Edmure — which means his plan to take Casterly Rock may not be a pipe dream, after all."

Oh....my heart hurts.

As I recall, Ros doesn't even exist in the books?

That Walder Frey sounds like a hell of a nice guy, doesn't he!

This is starting to remind me a little bit of how it went with True Blood. The first season followed the book very closely, but in each successive season it veered off a little bit more.

More and more of the individual storylines are either a little different or total departures. (Ros, Gendry, Theon to name but a few.)

As someone who has read all of the books, maybe this is a good thing. I just have to keep reminding myself that they are indeed different mediums.

Basically, this show is taking plots away from minor characters and giving them to ones we already know (Little Finger instead of Davos, Gendry instead of random kid I don't remember the name of).

And I really hope the TV-only fans manage to stay unspoiled about the thing we all know is coming and expect to break the internet.
