Programming interruption

Posted Oct 18, 2010 4:46 PM By

Due to some unforeseen circumstances away from the job (don't worry; I'm fine), I need to spend the next few days focusing on non-TV-related things. There's a new, incredibly long podcast up, and I'll put up brief posts on the three shows from the next few days - "Chuck" tonight, "Sons of Anarchy" tomorrow, "Terriers" Wednesday - and hopefully get back into the swing of things on Thursday or Friday. That means a bunch of shows are going to be skipped this week (and the three I write about will get very short shrift), but it can't be helped.

Sorry, folks. What's that John Lennon said about life happening when you're making other plans?

Indeed they should. Instead I'll just have to join in the chorus of approval. Hee.

I have the scoop. Creepy mudwrestling watcher #3 will have his own storyline in an upcoming Community ep.

Don't lie, we all know you heard about Outsourced getting the back nine and decided you needed a few days to process that info.

Glad to know that you're okay. Hope the rest of the family is as well, and that, whatever the situation is, it's not serious. Will be thinking of you.

In the digital age, life is what happens when you're updating your Facebook status. I hope whatever is happening is a good thing, or if not, that it turns out well.

Since Allan is fine I'm beeing selfish and ask about HIMYM. What did you think? I found the end of the episode very dissapointing, since it started of as a new big (and cute) romance for ted. Plus, I didn't like the marshall and lily story. Best scene: Barny in the chair.

I thought it was very funny, especially Marshall's imagining Robin & Lily discussing his lovemaking while he's trying to make love to Lily.

I really enjoyed it, actually. Last week felt like a partially successful attempt to recreate a special episode from the early seasons - this week felt like a completely successful attempt at delivering a normal instalment of that original show. Nothing big or flashy, but lots of small jokes delivered well (I don't recall saying snakes), everybody behaving in character and plenty of great little callbacks to earlier behaviour. I was very pleasantly surprised that they can still deliver low-key episodes like this with style when they try.

I liked last week's and thought this one was awful. The Zoe actress was not very strong (or at least not in the crazy role show was given) and the character was way over the top unbelievable.

And Ted's decision in the end not to go with the plan that saves a historic building but still allows him to make the building for the company and simply destroy the historic building may be the douchiest thing he's ever done.
