Listen: Does Adam Lambert's new single entertain you?
Title track to 'For Your Entertainment' sounds very familiar
Adam Lambert
Really Adam. This is the best you’ve got for us? “For Your Entertainment,” the first single and title track from Lambert’s debut album shows the “American Idol” runner-up in good vocal form but the song is so generic, we could see both Britney and Pink passing on it before it fell into Lambert’s hands.
Hear it here.
In fact, you can literally sing Spears’ “Womanizer” to the “For Your Entertainment” melody.(It was produced by Spears' longtime producer Dr. Luke and written by Claude Kelly).
The song is undoubtedly meant to propel Lambert’s black Elvis hairdo, leather jacket, faux bad boy image, but it’s about as dangerous as a set of fake Halloween vampire fangs. There is absolutely nothing to sink your teeth into here.
Tough-boy c’mons like “I’m gonna hurt you real good baby” or “Do you know what you got into/ can you handle what I’m about to do/’cos it’s about to get rough for you/I’m there for your entertainment” are surrounded by standard, toe-tapping dance beats, sanitized for radio.
Lambert showed much more personality during his “AI” stint. Even the treacly “Time for Miracles” from “2012” is much more interesting than this. We don’t want to believe it’s possible yet that Lambert’s compelling visual style is so much of the package that audio alone isn’t enough to hold our attention.

October 30, 2009 at 9:51PM EST Reply to CommentYes !! It entertains me. I can do aerobics, dance, and get wasted listening to it. It's presently on repeat. Love it !! It's sorta a male version of Britney, same beat, but more futuristic. It's Dr. Luke..her producer. Love the sound to it. The vocals are a teaser. This kid can sing !! The rest of the album is not all by one producer. There's more rock on it. Adam loves this sound. His 15 minutes of Fame, (Pop Goes the Camera) is similar. He also writes on this record too. I'm dancing, it's sexy, and I'm happy. !!!

October 31, 2009 at 4:51AM EST Reply to CommentAdam definitely entertains me. I love his voice and the emotion he puts into his songs. This song sets the stage--let's fans have expectations for what is coming. To me the lyrics are important and not bubblegum at all----close your eyes, not your mind, let me into your soul I think is directed at those who think someone's sexual preference should be a barrier to fame.
These lines:oh! bet you thought I was soft and sweet, thought an angel swept you off your feet I think warns AI followers to expect to be shocked. I love that he confronts this head on.

I know Adam will do a lot of different kinds of songs on his CD and has the chops to make it work. I think this is on e of the best electropop songs I've ever heard and can't wait for the CD!!!

November 2, 2009 at 12:59AM EST Reply to CommentI agree the lyrics are important and more than just sexy and hot (which they are). Mostly they are about Adam artistically as a performer and his relationship to his fans. He will turn up the heat, make us scream and push the limit!! "close your eyes not your minds let me into your soul". For me you just gotta love him for his talent, artistic flair, total risk taking and outrageous indepence. Adam Rocks and he won't be put into a box - get ready for a wild ride!!

November 11, 2009 at 3:36AM EST Reply to CommentLove it! Adam can entertain me any time. I haven't danced so much in a long time. When I play this song in the morning I'm ready to go for the whole day.
I would like this song even if Adam wasn't singing it; he is the bonus that send's it over the top. The lyrics are sexy and teasing. The music is upbeat, whippy, and catchy. The voice is pure Adam, not just technically but the expression he puts into singing it. I'm dying to see him perform this at the AMAs.
