Lilith Fair returns in 2010 to the UK, Europe

Will Femme-Fest come back to the U.S.?

After a 10-year absence, look for the return of the original estrogen fest, Lilith Fair, in 2010.

According to Nettwerk's Terry McBride, one of the traveling festival's co-founders, , the tour will at least hit Europe next year. No word yet on U.S. dates, but we have to believe they would be included.

As many of you recall, Lilith Fair took place for a few summers during the late ‘90s and featured dozens of female-fronted acts. Basically, if you sang, played a guitar or keyboard and had womanly parts, you probably were on one of Lilith Fair's stages between 1997 and 1999. Organized by Sarah McLachlan, McBride and Dan Fraser, the festival-dubbed Girlapalooza-featured up to three stages and played amphitheaters across the land to great acclaim.

Among the acts on various Lilith Fair outings were McLachlan, Jewel, Lisa Loeb, Indigo Girls, Shawn Colvin, Sheryl Crow, Meredith Brooks, Cowboy Junkies, Missy Elliot and many, many more.

We're trying to get more info about Lilith's return, but so far, all McBride has done is update his Facebook status over the weekend to "Lilith Fair will look at doing 2 weeks in the UK/Europe in 2010."

Many of the great women who were on the original Lilith runs should be on the new edition. Plus, there are so many more female artists, some of whom weren't around when Lilith ended. For example, what about Amy Winehouse as a headliner? Then when she cancels, as she inevitably will, there are all the other amazing British singers out there now, such as Adele, Lily Allen, Natasha Bedingfield, Kate Nash, Duffy, Amy McDonald and a slew of others, such as Norwegian sensation Ida Maria. Then from this side of the ocean, the pickings are great: Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson (hell, just comb the "AI" ranks for one stage alone), Lady GaGa, Pink, Santigold , Rihanna, Ingrid Michaelson, the Gossip, Diana Krall, Madeline Peyroux, Renee Olstead, Melody Gardot...the list goes on and on.
How nice that there is no shortage of females that could fill seats for Lilith no matter where it plays.

[Ediitor's note: the official website has been updated to say "Lilith Fair...coming in 2010."]
