Is "Gossip Girl" a TV show or an incubator for wanna-be rockers? First, we hear that Leighton Meester has signed a record deal, now comes word that 16-year-old Taylor Momsen, who plays Jenny Momsen, will release a record through Interscope Records, home to such artists as U2 and the Pussycat Dolls.

Momsen's band, Pretty Reckless, played its first ever gig in New York last night and it went pretty well, according to Spin. More specifically, the mag said her show "did not suck at all," which I'm sure is exactly what she was aiming for. Seriously, Spin compared her to "Kim Carnes doing Karen O," not that anyone Momsen's age has the slightest clue who Carnes is.

Pretty Reckless goes on the road opening for the Veronicas starting Saturday, May. 9.

To recap last week's news, Meester, who plays Blair Waldorf, has signed with Interscope-sister label Universal and is recording her pop-oriented debut, set for release later this year.

"Gossip" boys are getting into the act as well: Ed Westwick, who plays Chuck Bass, is in a band called Filthy Rich.
