The first round of performers for the Grammy Awards were announced today. Happy as we are to have them confirmed, we really could have guessed. Hmmm, Coldplay and Lil Wayne, two of the top nominees, will play. Now if they were playing together, that would shock me! Also slated are Kenny Chesney, Jonas Bros. and Katy Perry. They are each only nominated once, but couldn't be hotter, so their appearances are all about a ratings grabs. Interestingly, Chesney is nominated for best country collaboration with vocals for "Shiftwork," a duet with George Strait, but Strait's name is nowhere to be found.
It will be interesting to see what the Grammys do with acts like Adele and Duffy, who are mulitple nominees, but hardly household names. And what about poor Jazmine Sullivan who filled the Ledesi part this year--in other words the "Who is that?" part when her name was announced as a best new artist nominee. We imagine they'll all get to perform, but it will be either in some shortened-song version or a tribute to some other artist.
Stay tuned. The Grammys air Feb. 8 on CBS
