Ticketmaster informed ticketholders today, but gave no reason for the postponement. However, Hitfix found out the story: According to the venue, which is located in Uncasville,Conn., Spears' production did not have enough time to load in for the March 26 date. In a statement issued by the Mohegan Sun, "The reschedule is due to the grand size of the show's production... The current tour routing for the Mohegan Sun date does not allow enough time for travel and the needed production set-up time."
While we certainly don't know the ins and outs of Spears' production, which includes a 360-degree stage, acrobatic apparatus and lots of special effects, the show before March 26 is in Washington, D.C. on March 24, which is only a few hours from Uncasville. There are several overnight jumps in her schedule that are going on as scheduled. A source tells us that the March 26 show is the only one being moved.
We're speculating here, but it's possible that since she was already playing another date at the Mohegan Sun on May 2-the last date on her U.S. leg-it made sense to move the March 26 date to immediately after that concert. This way, the crew doesn't have to load in to the same concert venue twice and it saves wear and tear on the equipment. Tickets for the March 26 show will be honored for the May 3 concert.
The March 26 date is still listed on www.britneyspears.com.
