Ben Harper and Relentless7's  "Shimmer & Shine" comes straight out of the chute like a rocket and only picks up steam.  The Hendrix-inspired rocker is the first single from "White Lies for Dark Times," out May 5 on Virgin Records.

"White Lies for Dark Times," marks the debut release from Harper's new outfit.  He is joined in Relentless7 by Jason Mozersky on lead guitars, Jesse Ingalls on bass and keyboards and Jordan Richardson on drums.

The music video for "Shimmer & Shine" was directed by Danny Clinch, one of rock's most revered photographers best known for his photos of such legends as Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen and Tupac. Clinch's video is a vibrant slice of life on the road capturing the mundanity of the hours spent traveling from gig to gig to the glory of playing live.

Harper's biggest hit in the U.S. remains the delightful, lowkey charmer, "Steal My Kisses," which hit No. 15 on the Adult Top 40 in the U.S.

The band has some high profile gigs coming this summer including Hard Rock Calling in London (other performers include Neil Young and Fleet Foxes) as well as Bonnaroo.

In other Harper news, his entire Virgin catalog is now available on 180-gram vinyl.
