When you think Adam Lambert, think David Bowie and Queen, says producer RedOne, who is working with the "American Idol" runner-up on his RCA debut.

RedOne, best known for his work with Lady GaGa, told the Los Angeles Times his plans for the current Rolling Stone cover boy: "I want to go rock -- David Bowie and Queen, but make it more easy for people to get," the producer tells the Times' Todd Martens. "It has to be rock, but with an interesting dance angle to it, you know? You'll like it."  The Swedish RedOne hopes to cut at least six tracks with Lambert, of whom he's already a big fan: "You know what I like about him? He's fresh," said RedOne. "You can go almost whatever direction with him. People know him from being on 'American Idol,' singing other people's songs, but you can take him in a new direction, and this will be the first time you hear Adam Lambert with his signature. My goal is to get his signature out from him to the world."

That all sounds good, but putting him in a league with David Bowie and Queen...well, isn't that putting him "Under Pressure?"

"I want to go rock -- David Bowie and Queen, but make it more easy for people to get." Really? Was Queen really that hard to "get"? Let me explain: In "We Will Rock You," Queen was describing what it would be like if they... you know... rocked you. I think what RedOne really meant to say is "It'll just be like David Bowie or Queen if they only ever sang about love and mountains and going higher and having moments." *sigh*

Come on, I grew up on David Bowie, and I'm a huge queen fan. Trust me, Adam Lambert's vocals are superior to Bowies. And, he can do anything that Freddie Mercury could. He has a huge range, with a flawless delivery. Get real...things change, and new talent is always going to come along, and surpass others.

I am so excited about this pairing of Redone and Lambert. The queen influence will be awesome and Adam is just the person to carry it off. Bowie is a hero of mine, but I actually think Adam can take it to the next step.

i love that RedOne is looking to elicit a "signature" from adam. this boy can go in so many different directions, i guess he will need some signature to unify an album. also, i get him saying that Bowie and Queen could be more accessible channelled via lambert. they were rockers with a twist after all. all i know of RedOne is lady gaga -- totally different kind of artist but also makes mega hits, gets into the clubs, the teen and early 20's love her (not a bowie and queen's type audience). with a good producer (or not) adam is definitely the one who can bridge both worlds.
