In the seemingly endless parade of "supergroups," comes a folk entry.  At least they have a sense of humor about it. The Monsters of Folk-Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket's lead singer Jim James, and singer/songwriter M.Ward-will release their first album on Sept. 22.

Although this is the group's first recording, they first played together in  2004 under the billing of "An Evening With: Bright Eyes, Jim James and M. Ward." Along the way, it got dubbed the Monsters of Folk tour (a fun play on the now-defunct Monsters of Rock music festival in England), and the good-natured nickname stuck. The self-titled album was recorded over a two-year period in Malibu, Calif. and Omaha.

Instead of signing a worldwide deal, the CD will be released by different labels in each territory. In North America,  the album will come out on Shangri-La Music, in U.K. and Europe, it will be released on Rough Trade.
