Rock on the Range with Motley Crue, Alice in Chains, Sevenfold
Two-day festival set for Columbus in May
We know Cleveland rocks, but apparently, so does Columbus, Ohio. Motley Crue, Slipknot, Alice in Chains, Avenged Sevenfold and Korn will headline the 3rd annual Rock on the Range Festival, May 16-17 in the Ohio capital.
Shinedown, Buckcherry, The Used, Atreyu, Chevelle, Flyleaf, Saving Abel, Saliva, Blue October, Hoobastank and Black Stone Cherry are among the 35 acts appearing at Crew Stadium.
New this year is a third stage, sponsored by Jagermeister, and an expanded vendor village.
Tickets for the festival go on sale Feb. 21. Ducats start at $99.50 for the two days. Last year's festival drew 55,000 people. Given the economy, it's hard to imagine that this year's event can do the same. Plus, it's not as strong a line-up as in years past: 2007 included ZZ Top, Evanescence, Velvet Revolver and Hinder; 2008 featured Stone Temple Pilots, Kid Rock, Disturbed, Staind, 3 Doors Down and Seether. Quite honestly, we're a little surprised that, so far, the only casualty has been Florida's Langerado Festival, but we suspect it won't be the last.
