They should be ashamed of themselves. And so should the viewers who perpetuate these parenting disasters. These shows don't happen without the commercial incentive offered by viewers.

Absolutely true -- I think the real complication of reality TV comes in when these parents are essentially rewarded (with money, fame, etc.) for exposing their kids to harm.
