One last (I presume) set of critics' award nominations before we head into the second stage of Oscar season: the International Conephile Society is made up of over 80 international journalists and film professionals, and that diversity is reflected in the nominations, with "A Separation" topping the list with 10 nominations (including four acting bids, none of them for the superb Sarina Farhadi). I participated in the voting, which probably won't surprise you when you read the nomination tallies for "Weekend" and "Margaret." Full list after the jump.

January 23, 2012 at 11:27PM EST Reply to CommentJust imagine if the Oscar nominations looked like this... Wow, pretty great list. I have a feeling that some of my favorite films of the year (that are nominated by this group) will have to accept this as a consolation prize since most of them will not be showing up tomorrow morning.... Still keeping my fingers crossed for the Fassbender, but I'm prepared to have my heart broken (LOL) by the Academy like they do pretty much every year (except for last year.)

January 24, 2012 at 3:37AM EST Reply to CommentHow did the ICS decide which one of the A Separation actress to designate as lead and which as supporting? I just saw the film, and I would have flipped them, or possibly put both as lead. Sarina Farhadi could have gone in both categories, too.

January 24, 2012 at 4:25AM EST Reply to CommentAs a matter of fact all five actors/actresses in A Separation got mentions in leading and supporting categories and the ICS chose the one who ended up higher in said category. Bayat was pretty close in supporting too, but she got top 5 mentions in Lead, hence her placement there. The young Farhadi was in contention in supporting too but she couldn't make it there, sadly.
Paul Outlaw Amazing. Thanks for the clarification!
