'Twilight's' Anna Kendrick takes on George Clooney in 'Up in the Air'

A new clip from one of this year's major Oscar contenders

It's easy for cinefiles to critique the artistic merits of "The Twilight Saga," but Oscar has already weaved its web through the romantic horror franchise.  Graham Greene received a nomination for best supporting actor for "Dances with Wolves," "New Moon" composer Alexandre Desplat has nominations for "The Queen" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "New Moon" director Chris Weitz was awarded a best adapated screenplay nomination for "About a Boy." Well, this February that trio will be trumped once Anna Kendrick lands a best supporting actress nomination for her work in "Up in the Air."

Kendrick, who plays Bella's human friend Jessica in the "Twilight" franchise, absolutely shines opposite George Clooney in Jason Reitman's much buzzed about new dramedy.  The 24-year-old actress portrays a young manager who tries to change the way Clooney's company does business, but can't seem to win the longtime traveling representative over.  In this brand new scene embedded to the left, Kendrick's character discovers just how lucrative all of Clooney's traveling can be.  To watch a larger version of the clip, click here.

Kendrick has a busy few months ahead of her.  "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" opens Nov. 20 and "Up in the Air" begins its national rollout on Dec. 11. Of course, she'll also have to deal with year-end awards, the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards, the Broadcast Critic's Awards and eventually the Oscars, but something suggests she'll make due.
