January 6, 2011 at 5:15AM EST Reply to CommentI've seen all of those except for Hereafter, and I think Scott Pilgrim OUGHT to win, but it's more likely to Inception (which was beautifully shot and the visual effects well-done in their own right, to be sure). Unless "Hereafter" is in fact a special effects powerhouse.
January 6, 2011 at 5:19AM EST Reply to CommentAre the Awards given for uniform excellence in Visual Effects of a film or for specific brilliance?
I bring up this point because even though some effects of Tron Legacy were dazzling, but the Uncanny Valley-resembling work on CLU should hold them back. Inception all the way here, IMO.

February 9, 2011 at 2:08AM EST Reply to CommentInception or Hereafter ftw, imho. Both offered the best work by far of the year -- epic tsunami on the one hand coupled w/ really subtle but effective work like performance enhancements. Then there's Inception's mind bending, city-folding, gravity defying imagery on the other. Sweetness all around.
