Review: Comedy Central's 'Review with Forrest MacNeil'

Andy Daly series builds and builds as it goes along into something truly great

Sketch comedy shows don't usually have story arcs, even when they feature recurring characters. The Target Lady on "SNL" didn't go on a complex character journey over multiple seasons. Jordan Peele's character in the "Key & Peele" soul food sketch didn't reappear a few episodes later having turned cannibal after enjoying a human foot with his cellar door and stork ankles.

Exclusive behind-the-scenes: Ace Reporter's 'Stick To' music video

Exclusive behind-the-scenes: Ace Reporter's 'Stick To' music video

You don't just eat Franklin BBQ

Like a moth to flame, during SXSW I will flock toward Franklin BBQ.

I have more in common with Ace Reporter's "Stick To" music video than I thought.

Directed by Austin-based Peter Simonite and Annie Gunn, "Stick To" personifies one of the weirder winged insects and puts him on a bike; he's drawn to a light in an apartment, who as it ends up is Alex Gehring from rock band Ringo Deathstarr

Watch the video below, then watch our exclusive behind-the-scenes commentary video below it. Simonite and Gunn describe the process of sending their human-moth out into the streets, and just how he got his dusty aura: with the help of ashes collected from Franklin's barbeque pits.

Gunn and Simonite were also behind Immaculate Noise favorite Explosions in the Sky's short film "Postcard from 1952"; the latter director also helmed another clip from a popular Austin band -- Spoon -- for their "Everything Hits at Once."

TV Ratings: 'American Idol' holds off 'Survivor' as 'Criminal Minds' to lead Wednesday

'Arrow' hits a series low, while every ABC show other than 'Mixology' rises

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

"American Idol" got a small performance show uptick to narrowly avoid the ignominy of losing to "Survivor" and "Criminal Minds" among young viewers, while also leading FOX to slim victories in most key measures on Wednesday night.

Despite leading FOX to wins, "Idol" was neither the top show overall nor among young viewers on Wednesday.

The "Idol" decline-bump, up among young viewers but not overall, was fitting for an up-and-down Wednesday

There were declines for "Survivor," "CSI," "Law & Order: SVU," "Chicago PD," "Arrow" and "The Tomorrow People." While "Mixology" was down in its second week for ABC, the declines probably could have been worse, though expect a bigger fall in Finals.

"Mixology" was, in fact, ABC's only dropper as "The Middle," "Suburgatory," "Modern Family" and "Nashville" all rose.

On to the numbers...

Review: Seth MacFarlane & Neil DeGrasse Tyson bring 'Cosmos' back to life

A faithful, sincere, wonderful revival of the Carl Sagan classic

At this stage of his career, Seth MacFarlane is the proverbial 800 lb. gorilla at the FOX network. What kind of shows does he make, and where do they go? Given how valuable "Family Guy" is to the company bottom line (and how much money even something like "American Dad" has generated), anywhere he wants them.
