Will Steve Carell get 'Dumped'?
'The Office' star has a fourth potential new project in the works
Steve Carell is keeping very busy both with work and the development process.
The box office star is committed to his hit TV show "The Office" for at least the next four seasons, but he's in high demand on the big screen. The actor already has three possible pictures on his slate, but can seemingly only fit one movie in a year during his "Office" hiatus. Now, Variety reports Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to another potential vehicle for him to star in.
Based on a novel by Andrew Gottlieb, "Dumped" would find Carrell as a man trying to find meaning in his life after his wife divorces him out of the blue. Carrell would co-produce the picture through his Carousel production company.
As for those other projects vying for his attention? The "Get Smart" star is already scheduled to shoot the Fox romantic comedy "Date Night" with Tina Fey this summer. The question is what he'll do next year. Will it be "Dumped"? Or the untitled comedy that would reunite Carell with his former "Daily Show" co-star Ed Helms? Or the high concept comedy "Hi-T" about a man who has mood swings because of a lack of, um, testosterone injections? Or what about the "Get Smart" sequel Warner Bros. wants to shoot next spring?
Even if Carell can find a way to shoot one of the pictures during his "Office" schedule, expect some of these potential projects to fall to the wayside.
