Vanessa Hudgens and Alyson Michalka rock 'Bandslam'

Will the teen flick encourage more girls to pick up a guitar?

Alyson Michalka and Vanessa Hudgens are tween idols of the highest order. Hudgens has grown her reputation after spinning out of the "High School Musical" franchise and Michalka is better known as the Aly half of the popular singing duo Aly and AJ (her sister). Both are stars on the Disney owned Hollywood Records label, but it took a Summit movie to put them together on the big screen.

At the center of "Bandslam," however, is Will the dorky new kind in town(Gaelan Connell) trying to fashion a new band with resident hottie Charlotte (Michalka) tempting him in one direction and down-to-earth Sa5m (don't ask) showing him the light in the other. Whose side will he take as he aims to lead his crew in a major battle of the bands contest? (If you have to really guess...)

A few weeks ago, however, Michalka and Hudgens were anything but adversaries as they sat down with HitFix's own Katie Hasty to talk about their new flick. Watch it embedded to the left or check out a larger version here.
