Aha! Here's that trademark Joss Whedon wit that seemed to have been missing from the action-packed trailers and photos of the upcoming Marvel superhero-orgy "The Avengers."

In two new clips, we get to see Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) get sassy with the evil Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and, in a treat for fans, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) show her stuff.

In the first clip, above, Stark (AKA Iron Man) talks ups his new superhero team to Thor's evil half-brother, Loki. It's in this scene that Stark counters Loki's "We have an army" with the already-famous bon mot "we have a Hulk." Likewise, hearing Stark describe each Avengers in the most reductive terms is a hilarious treat for Marvel fans. Why Stark and Loki are together though, is still a mystery. Is Stark being held captive in his own opulent penthouse?

In this next kick-ass scene, ScarJo looks as if she's being interrogated by some thugs, what with her being handcuffed to a chair and all. Turns out the opposite is true, as she explains to Marvel movie regular Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) over the phone, before making mincemeat out of her captors in a chair-fu fight reminiscent of the first "Charlie's Angels" film.

There's also a passing reference to "Barton" (i.e. Clint Barton, AKA Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner) that seems to hint at a romantic relationship.

The rest of the offscreen team includes Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Sgt. Nicky Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

"The Avengers" opens nationwide May 4.
