Watch: The Batman must come back 'The Dark Knight Rises' teaser debuts

High quality preview finally available online

"We were in this together. And then you are gone. And now this evil rises. The Batman has to come back."

"What if he is doesn't exist anymore?"

"He must.  He must."

That's the key scene in the new teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" rises.  A hospital bed bound Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) pleading with Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale, off camera) to put on the cowl and cape of the Batman once more.  Will he do it?  Obviously, if he didn't it would put a major damper on Warner Bros.' expected summer 2012 blockbuster, but perhaps these words from Ra's al Ghul (Liam Neeson) provide some hints:

"

If you make yourself more than just a man. If you devote yourself to an ideal. Than you become something else entirely.  A legend Mr. Wayne. A legend."

Or, just the final shot of the trailer which appear to find Batman getting ready to spar with a muscle-bound Bane (Tom Hardy).

No doubt many saw this preview before "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pt. 2," but WB decided to wait for an official online launch today.

    lightscameraachtung!

Nice teaser! The Gordon scene is quite good. Also, hints at the end that the Bat might be broken and need some mending. Who's standing in the background? Talia?

Dave I I'm guessing it would be Selina Kyle (a.k.a. Cat Woman) if they were going that route. Otherwise, some henchman or reporter. It did not look like the sexiest or most feminine of outfits.

lightscameraachtung! It seems out of place to me after watching it a few times, Dave. Maybe it's a rushed edit error? Regardless, it's going to be a long wait until next summer. Cheers back at ya!

Dave I Yeah, hard to tell at this point. I was just speculating. It could be somebody in the filming crew or something not supposed to be there that they edit out. And yes, it will be a bit of a wait to actually see this. It looks pretty cool though.

I wish I did not see this trailer now. I'm going to be thinking about this movie everyday until it comes out next year. As for the last shot, it looked like an exhausted and possibly beaten up Batman trying to get his second wind against Bane.
