My Morning Jacket played centerstage on the most recent episode of unfunny show "American Dad" on FOX last night (Nov. 22).

The dusty rock band becomes Stan's obsession and favorite band after he catches his daughter at one of their shows. What follows are amazingly unfunny jokes on stoner music culture, groupies, rock cred, rock journalists and rock journalist's cred.

"Music isn't a waste, dad and My Morning Jacket is awesome," the writers Hayley unfunnily screeches at her father in "My Morning Straightjacket," before Stan's convinced of MMJ frontman's cool.

The group can be seen at the end playing a live show. Zach Galifianakis voices two characters, including the unfunny fat farting loser guy Norman.

At least the ep showed the band as down to earth, without whores and blow, plus: MMJ finally gets to play stadiums.

In order to "commemorate the show," My Morning Jacket's label home ATO Records "will be releasing a digital EP of songs and selected dialogue clips from the episode. With 6 tracks from the digital EP that have been previously released throughout the band’s ten year career, we intend this to serve as a nice introduction to many who have not heard My Morning Jacket’s music before."

I'm sure we would have all prefered "Family Guy," let's just move on from this.

My Morning Jacket is currently not tour, though Jim James (or Yim Yames) is working hard with his other band Monsters of Folk, with Conor Oberst, M. Ward and Mike Mogis.
