The day to day lives and struggles of illegal immigrants in the united states is rarely talked about in any media, no less given a feature length motion picture. Director Chris Weitz has been nurturing a project, originally called "The Gardener" that does just that. "A Better Life" follows the life of a man working as a gardener in Los Angeles, trying to grow his business and make enough money to move to a better neighborhood so his son can go to a better school.
Chris Weitz, who recently directed "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" himself is of Mexican descent and strongly desired to make a film set in Los Angeles, telling HitFix last March that "I've wanted to do 'The Gardener' for a couple of years now and it was always built into my life plan."
Life plan or no, it's great to see projects like this in theaters, and so it's the Video Of The Day. Watch the trailer embedded above.
"A Better Life" will begin a limited release on June 24th
