Video of the Day: Ewan McGregor in 'Beginners' Trailer
Thirty-something plus cute dog try to make sense of the world in Silverlake
Although the film has already made the festival rounds, "Beginners," starring Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer has been acquired by Focus Features and will be getting a theatrical release, and so it now has a trailer and a release date.
Focusing on semi-autobiographical events in director Mike Mill's life, the story features McGregor as a late 30's graphic artist who must deal with two big pieces of news about his elderly father: He's gay and he has cancer. The film also stars a Melanie Laurent as McGregor's love interest, the two it is assumed, are as much 'Beginners' at love as his elderly father trying to navigate the gay scene so late in his life.
The trailer is very well put together, features a very cute little dog, and we look forward to finally seeing this in theaters, and so it is the Video of the Day.
Read Gregory Ellwood's review of the film from the Toronto Film Festival, and watch some clips from the movie here.
"Beginners" opens in limited release June 3rd, 2011
