USA renews 'Psych' for a fifth season

Dule Hill, James Roday and company still need to finish their fourth season

With the long-running "Monk" approaching the end of its Emmy-winning run, USA has taken steps to secure another key piece of its primetime lineup.

According to media reports, USA has ordered a 16-episode fifth season for the quirky crimefighting dramedy "Psych," which stars James Roday and Dule Hill.

Created by Steve Franks, "Psych" may return with original episodes (still from its fourth season) by late January, with the fifth season going forward for next summer.

"Psych' just keeps getting better and better," USA President of Original Programming Jeff Wachtel "tells" The Hollywood Reporter. "Steve, James, Dule and the entire team keep us laughing and keep the audience coming back for more."

Other "Psych" stars include Corbin Bernsen, Timothy Omundson and Maggie Lawson.
