Two pack for Joss Whedon's 'Cabin in the Woods'
Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford are set for the Drew Goddard-directed film
Casting has begun on MGM/UA's "The Cabin in the Woods," from Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Richard Jenkins has signed on and Bradley Whitford is in negotiations to join the horror project that has been stirring up buzz and speculation for months.
Whedon and Goddard wrote "The Cabin in the Woods," which will be directed by Goddard and is said to give a new spin to a classic horror situation.
As only a few people know what "Cabin in the Woods" is actually about, details on Jenkins and Whitford's characters are limited. The trade paper says they will play "white-collar co-workers with a mysterious connection to the cabin."
UA is hoping to shoot "Cabin in the Woods" this spring and MGM has set a Feb. 5, 2010 date for its release.
Jenkins' 2008 credits included supporting roles in "Burn After Reading" and "Step Brothers." A rare lead in "The Visitor" has yielded ample awards buzz for Jenkins, including SAG award and Independent Spirit nominations.
Whitford won one Emmy and was nominated for two others for his work on "The West Wing." He was most recently seen on NBC's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and in the feature "Bottle Shock."
