'Twilight' director Catherine Hardwicke turns to 'Riding Hood'
Catherine Hardwicke may not have been able to keep her "Twilight" franchise gig by helming "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," but to say she's riding the coattails of the blockbuster is an understatement.
Hardwicke is already developing a modern day version of "Hamlet" with Overture Films, the romance "If I Stay" at Summit and a new "21 Jump Street" and "Maximum Ride" with Sony Pictures. Now, Variety reports Hardwicke is signing on to direct Appian Way and Warner Bros.'s werewolf movie "The Girl With the Red Riding Hood."
This version of the classic Little Red Riding Hood story will take place during gothic times and -- imagine this -- feature a teenage love triangle (something Hardwicke has dealt with expertly before).
No word which of Hardwicke's slate will head into production first.
