TV Ratings: The Grammys dominate Sunday for CBS
Among adults 18-49, CBS averaged a 6.5 rating, well ahead of the 3.5 rating for ABC in the all-important demographic. FOX was third with a 1.9 rating, followed by the 1.8 rating for NBC and the 0.4 rating for The CW.
Overall, CBS averaged an estimated 18.96 million viewers and an 11.3 rating/18 share. ABC was a distant second with a 6.5/10, still well ahead of the 4.5/7 for NBC and FOX's 2.4/4. The CW was fifth with a 0.8/1.
In the 7 p.m. hour, CBS got a better than usual 10.5/17 for "60 Minutes." NBC's coverage of football's Pro Bowl was second with a 5.6/9 (actually winning the hour in the key demo). ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos" was a close third, beating the 1.5/3 for FOX's "Hole in the Wall" and the 0.5/1 for "Jericho" on The CW.
The first hour of the Grammys delivered an 11.9/18 for CBS in the 8 p.m. hour. ABC was second with a 6.0/9 for "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." "Dateline NBC" had a 4.5/7 for third, bettering FOX's returns for repeats of "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill." The CW aired "Teen Wolf" and finished fifth.
Hour two of the Grammys was up to a 12.1/18 for CBS. ABC's new "Desperate Housewives" provided solid counterprogramming with an 8.6/13. The NBC telefilm "XIII" was third with a 4.0/6, drawing more viewers than FOX's "Family Guy" and "American Dad" repeats or the 1.0/1 for "Teen Wolf" on The CW.
CBS' Grammy coverage closed with a 10.9/18 in the 10 p.m. hour. ABC's "Brothers and Sisters" was second with a 6.3/10, beating NBC's movie, which slipped slightly in its second hour.
