Fast National ratings for Wednesday, July 29, 2009.

The season's penultimate Wednesday "So You Think You Can Dance" performance episode pushed FOX to a nightly ratings win.

Among adults 18-49, FOX had a 2.9 rating, comfortably in front of the 1.9 rating for NBC and ABC's 1.6 rating. CBS' 1.4 rating was fourth in the key demographic with a 1.4 rating, leaving The CW in fifth with a 0.5 rating.

Overall, NBC had the night's highest ratings with a 4.6 rating/8 share, nipping FOX's 4.5/8, but FOX's average of 7.63 million viewers beat the 7.4 million for NBC. CBS' 3.9/7 was third, better than the 3.1/5 for ABC. The CW was, as usual, last with a 0.9/2.

FOX started the night in first at 8 p.m. with a 4.5/8 for "So You Think You Can Dance," topping the 4.1/7 for an "America's Got Talent" repeat on NBC. ABC's "Wipeout" repeat had a 3.7/7 for third, beating CBS' "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and "Gary Unmarried." The CW's "America's Next Top Model" was fifth with a 0.9/2.

NBC moved into the lead at 9 p.m. with a 6.4/11 for "America's Got Talent." FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance" was second with a 4.5/8, but won the hour in the 18-49 with a 2.9 rating. CBS' "Criminal Minds" was third with a 4.2/7, far ahead of the 2.2/4 for ABC's "I Survived a Japanese Game Show." The CW's "America's Next Top Model" trailed.

CBS closed the evening in first with a 4.4/8 "CSI: NY." ABC's "Primetime: Crime" was second, beating the 3.1/6 for NBC's "The Philanthropist."
