Fast National ratings for Monday, November 23, 2009.

The first part of the "Dancing with the Stars" finale helped to give ABC a commanding lead in total viewers on Monday night, but CBS' late evening strength with younger viewers allowed the network to return to its place atop Monday's demo race.

Among adults 18-49, CBS averaged a 4.0 rating, edging out the 3.6 rating for FOX and ABC's 3.4 rating in the all-important (to the networks, at least) demographic. NBC was a distant fourth with a 1.8 rating, beating The CW's 0.6 rating.

Overall, though, ABC averaged an estimated 15.88 million viewers to go with a 10.1 rating/16 share. CBS was well back in second with a 7.3/11 and 11.86 million viewers. FOX finished third with a 5.7/8 and 9.58 million viewers. NBC was fourth with a 3.1/5. The CW's 0.9/1 trailed.

ABC began the night in first with an 12.6/19 for "Dancing with the Stars." FOX's "House" had a less-than-impressive 7.0/11 in second, but won the hour in the 18-49 demo with a 4.5 rating. CBS' "How I Met Your Mother" and "Accidentally on Purpose" averaged a 5.0/7 for third. NBC's "Heroes" continued to limp along with a 3.1/5 and a 2.3 rating in the demo. The CW's "One Tree Hill" repeat was fifth.

"Dancing with the Stars" maintained its overall lead at 9 p.m. with an 11.1/16 for ABC. CBS moved up to second with an 8.4/12 for "Two and a Half Men" and "The Big Bang Theory," winning the hour in the 18-49 demo with a 5.0 rating, lead by the 5.2 for "Big Bang," the night's best. FOX's "Lie to Me" had a 4.3/6 for third, beating NBC's "Trauma," which had a 3.4/5 and a 1.6 demo rating (so much for those reports of a "recent ratings rise"). The CW's "Gossip Girl" repeat was fifth.

CBS moved into first at 10 p.m. with an 8.4/14 for "CSI: Miami," which also won the hour in the 18-49 demo with a 3.7 rating. ABC's "Castle" was second with a 6.7/11. That left "The Jay Leno Show" in third for NBC.
