TV Ratings: 'So You Think You Can Dance' drooping, but FOX splits Wednesday
Ratings for FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance" are slipping as the show progresses deeper into its fifth season, but they aren't dropping badly enough to keep the network from claiming the key demo on Wednesday.
Among adults 18-49, FOX averaged a 2.6 rating, beating the 1.9 rating for both ABC and NBC. CBS was fourth in the key demographic with a 1.5 rating. The CW's 0.4 rating trailed.
Overall, though, NBC averaged an estimated 7.41 million primetime viewers to go with a 4.6/8. FOX and CBS were right behind with a 4.3/8. ABC's 3.5/6 was fourth, leaving The CW in last with a 0.6/1.
The 8 p.m. hour was particularly competitive. In terms of ratings, FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance" had a 4.4/8, topping the 4.3/8 for ABC's "Wipeout" and the 4.2/8 for NBC's "America's Got Talent" encore. However, ABC won the hour in total viewers (7.66 million, vs. 6.89 million for FOX) and FOX and ABC tied in the 18-49 demo with a 2.6 rating. Any way you slice it, CBS was fourth with "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and "Gary Unmarried." The CW's "America's Next Top Model" trailed with a 0.6/1.
NBC took over first at 9 p.m. with a 6.8/12 for "America's Got Talent." CBS' "Criminal Minds" was second with a 4.9/9. FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance" was third overall with a 4.2/7 and second to NBC in the 18-49 demo. ABC's "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" had a 2.5/4, though those figures are dirtied by a five-minute "Wipeout" overrun. The CW's "ANTM" trailed.
