TV Ratings: 'CSI,' 'Grey's Anatomy' both up on Thursday
As usual, CBS wins overall on Thursday, with ABC narrowly taking the key demo
It was a rather positive Thursday on the network television landscape, with several shows seeing sweeps-driven bumps over recent performances. Among the biggest risers were ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," with Katherine Heigl's return, CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," with the conclusion of a three-night crossover event, and FOX's dramas.
Among adults 18-49, ABC won the night with nearly a 4.0 rating. CBS Was a solid second in the key demographic with a 3.8 rating. FOX was third on the night with a 2.5 rating. NBC's 2.4 rating was fourth. The CW trailed with nearly a 1.7 rating.
Overall, though, CBS averaged an estimated 15.2 million viewers to go with a 9.5 rating/15 share. ABC was a distant second with a 7.2/11 and an estimated 10.97 million viewers. FOX finished third with a 4.8/8 and 7.86 million viewers, leaving NBC in fourth with a 3.3/5 and an estimated 5.44 million viewers. The CW's 2.2/3 and 3.54 million viewers were fifth.
CBS' "Survivor: Samoa" continued to grow its lead in the 8 p.m. hour, averaging a 7.7/12 and a 4.0 rating in the key demo. FOX's "Bones" moved up to third with a 6.0/9 for "Bones," well up from last week. ABC's "FlashForward" continued to slip overall, falling to a 5.3/8 and 8.33 million viewers, though its demo rating was steady. NBC's "Community" and "Parks & Recreation" were down slightly from last week. The CW's "The Vampire Diaries" was up again with a 2.6/4 and an estimated 4.31 million viewers.
"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" won the 9 p.m. hour overall with a 10.6/16, averaging 16.89 million viewers, well up from last week. ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" was second with a 9.4/15 and won the hour with a 5.4 rating. NBC's "The Office" and "30 Rock" had a 3.9/6 overall for third. FOX's "Fringe" was back to its season averages after last week's post-Word Series drop, doing a 3.7/6 and a 2.2 rating in the key demographic. The CW's "Supernatural" also showed small week-to-week gains.
"The Mentalist" had a 10.1/17 in the 10 p.m. hour, winning overall for CBS. ABC's "Private Practice" was second with a 6.7/11 and won the hour in the key demo with a 3.9 rating. NBC's "The Jay Leno Show" was third.
