TV Ratings: CBS repeats top NBA, NHL on Tuesday
In a head-to-head matchup between the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup, ABC won easily, as Lakers-Orlando Game Three topped NBC's Penguins-Red Wings Game Six on Tuesday night. For all for all of the sports being played, though, neither event drew a bigger audience than CBS' procedural repeats.
ABC averaged a 3.9 rating among adults 18-49, beating the 2.2 rating for NBC. CBS' 1.9 rating was good for third in the coveted demographic, better than the 1.4 rating for FOX and the 0.5 rating for The CW.
Overall, though, CBS averaged an estimated 10.45 million viewers to go with a 7.0 rating/12 share. ABC was second with a 5.9/10, well ahead of the 3.3/6 for NBC and FOX's 2.9/5. The CW's 0.9/2 trailed.
CBS started the night off in first with the 7.1/13 for "NCIS." The lead-in to the NBA Finals gave ABC a 5.2/9 for the hour. NBC's Stanley Cup hockey action was third with a 2.9/5, nipping the totals for FOX's "House" repeat. The CW's "90210" was fifth with a 0.8/1.
"The Mentalist" had a 7.6/12 in the 9 p.m. hour for CBS. ABC's coverage of the Magic's victory over the Lakers had a 6.0/10 and won the hour in the 18-49 demo. NBC's hockey nipped the 3.1/5 for a new "Mental" featuring the late David Carradine on FOX. The CW's "Hitched Or Ditched" had a 1.1/2 for fifth.
ABC won the 10 p.m. hour with a 6.7/11 for the NBA Finals game. CBS' "48 Hours Mystery" was a solid second, while the end of the hockey on NBC improved to a 3.7/6.
