Are you a fan of vampires, Joss Whedon or Joss Whedon alumnae? If so, the Comic-Con schedule for Friday, July 23 should make you very, very, very happy.
After a relatively light Thursday schedule on the TV side, Comic-Con has announced a Friday schedule that will force small screen fanatics to run hither and yon across the San Diego Convention Center to catch even a few highlights.
Obviously the big tickets for Friday are in Ballroom 20, including an hour-long conversation with Mr. Whedon himself and then the sure-to-be passionate panel for HBO's "True Blood." Whedon devotees will also be able to catch David Boreanaz, Summer Glau, Seth Green and Morena Baccarin on various panels throughout the day.
Friday is also highlighted by a wide assortment of TV animation panels, two different new shows from Steven Spielberg (but no Spielberg) and, for the wee ones, the first-ever Comic-Con panel for "Yo Gabba Gabba!"
These are only a few of the TV offerings for Friday:
"Stargate Universe"
10:30 - 11:30
Ballroom 20
Who: Robert Carlyle, David Blue, Ming Na and Louis Ferreira lead a panel moderated by series co-creator Robert Cooper.
Lowdown: The latest evolution of the "Stargate" screened some of its very first footage at Comic-Con last year. Now that the passionate "Stargate" fans have seen the darker series, this will be a chance for them to sound off.
"The Walking Dead"
11:30 - 12:30
Room 6BCF
Who: It's a jam-packed panel for AMC's series adaptation of the zombie favorite, featuring the original creator Robert Kirkman, series creator Frank Darabont, producer Gale Anne Hurd and stars Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Emma Bell and Laurie Holden.
Lowdown: Makeup mastermind Greg Nicotero will also be on-hand and while AMC has teased some zombie pictures, this might be the first chance to see some footage of the "Walking Dead"
11:30 - 12:30
Room 20
Who: Series creators Ronald D. Moore and David Eick will be on-hand along with Alessandra Torresani and Sasha Roiz.
Lowdown: "Caprica" has been on a long mid-season hiatus, but maybe this would be an opportunity to get some unseen footage from the "Battlestar Galactica" prequel?
12:45 - 1:45
Ballroom 20
Who: Occasional "BBT" guest star and nemesis Wil Wheaton will moderate stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar, plus co-creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady.
Lowdown: Last year's "Big Bang Theory" panel was an epic love-fest and with the series achieving an even higher profile this past year, there's no reason to expect anything different from a packed ballroom.
"Yo Gabba Gabba!"
2:00 - 3:00
Room 8
Who: Michael Polis, DJ Lance Rock, Kevin Sukho Lee, J. Torres and Matthew Lou will show up for the first-ever "Yo Gabba Gabba!" Comic-Con panel.
Lowdown: If you've got kids, you may not want to miss scenes from upcoming episodes, plus a peek at the show's comic book adaptation, courtesy of Oni Press.
2:00 - 2:45
Ballroom 20
Who: Series creator Hart Hanson and star David Boreanaz will be in attendance.
Lowdown: Comic-Con fans like David Boreanaz. Expect lots of questions about when Bones and Booth will knock boots in the real world, plus a few questions about who would win in a fight between Booth and Angel.
"The Cape"
2:15 - 3:15
Room 6A
Who: Summer Glau plus a bunch of other people associated with this midseason costumed hero drama from NBC.
Lowdown: All of the stars of "The Cape" will be there, including David Lyons, Keith David and Vinnie Jones, but expect most of the conversation to flow through "Firefly" and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" star Glau. Perhaps footage also?
The Joss Whedon Experience
3:00 - 3:45
Ballroom 20
Who: Joss Whedon.
Lowdown: Ummm... Do we really need to explain? Whedon will talk about everything from the end of "Dollhouse" to a "Dr. Horrible" sequel to that "Avengers" thing, plus he'll probably have just a little bit to say about everything from "Firefly" to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" to future projects and his comic work.
"Spartacus: Blood and Sand"
3:15 - 4:15
Room 6BCF
Who: Stars Andy Whitfield, Lucy Lawless, John Hannah and Viva Bianca, plus producer Stephen S. DeKnight will be on-hand.
Lowdown: Get the lowdown on Whitfield's health and what's coming up in the prequel season "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena."
"Terra Nova"
3:30 - 4:30
Room 6A
Who: Producers Brannon Braga and David Fury, plus director Alex Graves and star Jason O'Mara will talk about their midseason FOX drama, which they haven't shot yet.
Lowdown: Steven Spielberg apparently won't be there, but there will be plenty of conceptual art. And who doesn't love conceptual art? Also, since Spielberg has a second show also paneling on Friday, who's ruling out a surprise appearance?
Adult Swim Panel Featuring "Robot Chicken," "Venture Bros," and "Metalocalypse"
4:30 - 5:30
Room 6BCF
Who: Show creators Seth Green, Matt Senreich, and Tom Root ("Robot Chicken"), Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer ("Venture Bros"), and Brendon Small ("Metalocalypse")
Lowdown: That's a lot of fun Adult Swim folks. What more do you need?
"Falling Skies"
4:45 - 5:45
Room 6A
Who: Stars Noah Wyle and Moon Bloodgood, plus creator Mark Verheiden will chat about their new TNT drama, which won't premiere until next summer.
Lowdown: This is a way-eary peek at this new alien invasion series from Steven Spielberg. If you aren't here, you could wait months to see hide or hair from this series.
"True Blood"
5:15 - 6:15
Ballroom 20
Who: You name your favorite "True Blood" people and they'll probably be there, including Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alan Ball, Charlaine Harris, Nelsan Ellis, Deborah Ann Woll, new werewolf Joe Manganiello and Sam Trammell. [Alexander Skarsgard *appears* to be absent.]
Lowdown: Last year's "True Blood" had Ballroom 20 bursting to the seams. This years will be no different.
"Being Human"
6:00 - 7:00
Room 6A
Who: Creator/writer Toby Whithouse and cast members Russell Tovey, Lenora Crichlow, Aidan Turner, and Sinead Keenan will be there to talk about the second season of their BBC America drama.
Lowdown: If you haven't already illegally downloaded the second season, this will be a chance to get a glimpse at new footage several days early.
6:00 - 7:00
Room 7AB
Who: Series creator Adam Reed and Aisha Tyler are the listed talent from this FX animated hit.
Lowdown: Want to know what's coming up in Season Two of "Archer"? This may be a chance to find out.
"The 2010 Hot List"
6:30 - 7:30
Ballroom 20
Who: The talent on this panel includes Morena Baccarin, Brannon Braga, Michael Chiklis, Keith David, Zachary Levi, David Lyons, Elizabeth Mitchell and Chi McBride, plus "others to be announced."
Lowdown: You'll be able to see all of these people at other Comic-Con panels, but not all together!
