'Top Chef' gets its 'Just Desserts'

Bravo orders a 'Top Chef' spinoff focusing on pastry chefs

Who doesn't love something sweet after a delicious dinner? However, over the seasons of "Top Chef," many a brilliant culinary practitioner has been crushed by dessert.

The producers of the Emmy-winning series are jumping into that dessert fray with a spinoff, titled "Top Chef: Just Desserts." As one might guess from the title, the series will pit rising pastry chefs against each other in a series of dessert challenges.

Although Bravo only announced "Top Chef: Just Desserts" on Monday (Oct. 26), this obviously isn't something the producers at Magical Elves just thought up, since "Top Chef: Just Desserts" is beginning its casting process immediately, with auditions in Chicago.

The "Top Chef: Just Desserts" series order comes a week after Bravo renewed another "Top Chef" spinoff, "Top Chef Masters," for a second season and three weeks after Bravo formally announced the beginning of casting on the seventh cycle of "Top Chef."
