The Osbournes return to TV after 'American Idol'
FOX has set a premiere date for the new variety series "Osbournes: Reloaded."
Or, rather, FOX has set an air date for a single installment of "Osbournes: Reloaded," which isn't exactly the same thing.
The first hour of "Osbournes: Reloaded" will air on Tuesday, March 31 after an episode of "American Idol."
Shot largely before a audience, "Osbournes: Reloaded" marks the return of what was briefly America's favorite wacky metal family, at least before audiences got sick of their MTV show.
Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly do stunts, gags and performances that FOX insists are "guaranteed to rock the house."
In addition to the on-stage hijinks, "Osbournes: Reloaded" includes filmed bits like the Osbournes traveling the country meeting other families with the same last name, as well as "Littlest Osbournes," featuring pint-sized, foul-mouthed versions of Sharon and Ozzy.
The post-"Idol" timeslot would be a great launching pad for a series, except that after that premiere, FOX doesn't know when "Osbournes: Reloaded" will air again.
The network release only says that after the premiere, the show will "return to the FOX schedule as a series of one-hour specials to air later in the season."
Then again, you can bet that if "Osbournes Reloaded" exceeds the "Idol" retention of the time slot's normal occupant, the long-absent "Fringe," FOX might get some ideas about scheduling those specials on future Tuesdays.
