It took exactly one airing, plus a wave of rave reviews, for Showtime to decide that one season of Edie Falco's "Nurse Jackie" just wouldn't be enough.

Showtime ordered up a second 13-episode season for the medical comedy (dark comedy) after seeing the overnight ratings from Monday (June 8) night's premiere.

The first airing of "Nurse Jackie" drew an estimated 1 million viewers and added another 350,000 in its same-night repeat airing. This made "Nurse Jackie" the most-watched series premiere in Showtime history, or at least since Nielsen changed the way it measured the premium network's audience back in 2004, according to TV Week.
