Samantha gets a new love interest in 'Sex and the City 2': Max Ryan
'Death Race' star to go upscale in the rom com sequel
Max Ryan should appear much more civilized in "Sex and the City 2" than his role in "Death Race."
Without much fanfare, the "Sex and the City" sequel has begun shooting in New York City. Franchise writer/director Michael Patrick King is trying to keep as much under wraps as possible, but some details are slowly being revealed. First up? The ever roaming Samantha (Kim Catrall, of course) may have found a new man.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brit Max Ryan will appear in the romantic comedy as Rikard, a European architect who "crosses paths" with New York's most fashionable over 50 publicist. The last film found Samantha ending her long relationship with model turned actor Smith (Jason Lewis) because she realized she wasn't a one-man woman. How Ryan's Rikard will play out in the new film is unclear, but there will no doubt be some shagging involved.
The 42-year-old Ryan is best known to American audiences for his role in "Death Race," but he's also appeared in "The League of Extraordinary Gentleman" and the horror flick "Thr3e."
"Sex and the City 2" reunites the entire cast of the popular franchise including Sarah Jessica Parker, Catrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. The first "Sex and the City" movie was a box office sensation grossing over $415 million world wide.
The new installment is already scheduled to hit theaters May 28, 2010.
