Ryan Reynolds is waiting for that "Deadpool" sequel to get a finished script and director, so in the meantime he's stretching his acting muscles in the new indie "Buried."

According to Variety, "The Proposal" star will play a civilian contractor who is kidnapped and awakens buried in a coffin in the middle of the desert.  At his disposal he finds only a cell phone,  a candle and a knife.   The picture will be directed by Rodrigo Cortes, a Spanish filmmaker best known for "The Contestant."

Reynolds was seen this spring in "Adventureland," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and in last weekend's romantic comedy hit "The Proposal."

"Buried" will begin production this month in Barcelona, Spain.
