Robot vs. Robot battles, 'Astro Boy' style
It ain't 'Transformers,' but it's eye candy
Astro Boy is ready to take on all comers. No matter how big they are.
Family friendly fare has returned to theaters with a vengeance the past few weeks with animated fare such as "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs," the "Toy Story" re-releases in 3-D and for older kids, "Where The Wild Things Are." Next weekend a new hero comes on the scene with the big screen debut of "Astro Boy."
Born over 50 years ago in a Japanese Manga, "Astro Boy" is the story of a young robot (voiced by Freddie Highmore) who was created by a brilliant scientist (Nic Cage) in the image of the son he's lost. Unable to meet the expectations of his still grieving father, Astro Boy embarks on an adventure where he gets entangled in an underground world of robot gladiators (fun!) before he returns home to make peace with his creator.
Summit Entertainment just released two new clips from "Astro Boy" that are embedded in the story below. Or, to see larger versions of "Robot Games" and "Peacekeeper Battle" click here and here respectively.
"Astro Boy" will try and take down "Ameila," "Saw VI" and "The Vampire's Assistant: Cirque du Freak" when it opens next Friday, Oct. 23.
