'Red Dawn' rising for Jeffrey Dean Morgan
'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Watchmen' co-star would play a military commander
Jeffrey Dean Morgan in 'Watchmen'
"Watchmen" and "Grey's Anatomy" star Jeffrey Dean Morgan is reportedly in final negotiations to join the cast of the upcoming MGM/UA remake of "Red Dawn."
Like the 1984 Cold War classic, the new "Red Dawn" focuses on a group of teens who form a militia to fight a counter-insurgency against a group of invading foreign troops. In the remake, the occupying forces include Chinese and Russian soldiers.
According to Variety, Morgan will play a U.S. Special Forces commander who encounters the teen militia.
It's hard to know where Morgan is going to find the time for "Red Dawn," which is already shooting in Michigan with Dan Bradley directed from a script with at least four credited writers.
Morgan just finished shooting "The Resident," co-starring Hilary Swank, and is now working on "The Losers" in Puerto Rico.
Other credits for Morgan include "P.S. I Love You," "Taking Woodstock" and "Supernatural."
