Iconic '90s independent rock act Pavement is reuniting in order to play a show at Summerstage in New York's Central Park next year.
The news was first reported by blog BrooklynVegan, then by Stereogum and Pitchfork, that the seminal act will hit the stage Sept. 21, 2010.
The source(s) for the news are anonymous, so this isn't necessarily straight from frontman Stephen Malkmus' mouth, for instance. Still, it would be the first live performance from Pavement since 1999.
The show reportedly will be a benefit, and may be just one stop on a tour.
This news would come on the heels of other '90s rock band reunions, like Faith No More, Sunny Day Real Estate and Jane's Addiction.
