Paul McCartney played with the Beatles when they christened Shea Stadium with music in 1965. He helped Billy Joel send it off at its final concert last year.

Now, McCartney will play host to the first concerts at Citi Field, the forthcoming new home to the New York Mets.

The concerts will take place July 17 and July 18, with tickets going up for sale on June 15 through an exclusive website and by phone at 718-507-TIXX. The legendary artist plans to perform songs from his time with The Fab Four, with Wings and from his extensive solo catalogue.

"I am really excited about playing Citi Field - The Beatles were the first to play at Shea Stadium and along with Billy Joel, I was the last to sing at the old Shea," said McCartney in a statement. "So to be the first to play this stadium is incredible. I am really looking forward to a buzzing show."

McCartney made another historic appearance recently, announcing details on the new "The Beatles: Rock Band" game alongside former bandmate Ringo Starr at the E3 Conference. Read more on that here.
