"Simple Life" co-star Nicole Richie may be ready for a very different sort of primetime return.
According to Variety, ABC is developing a comedy pilot set up at Sony Pictures TV and built around Richie. Daisy Gardner ("Californication") will write the script, which the trade says will focus on on a professional woman with complicated family relationships, whatever that actually means.
Richie will star in the project and, since it's based on an idea she brought to the network, she'll take a producing credit as well.
While "Simple Life" co-star Paris Hilton has largely stuck to playing herself or versions of her self in films and movies, Richie has carved out a small niche with guest starring turns on "American Dreams" and "8 Simple Rules," as well as a well-regarded action-comedy turn on "Chuck" last season. She also appeared in the feature "Kids in America."
