Could this be another comeback year for Nicolas Cage?  The Oscar winner has had one of the most up and down career in the industry, but 2010 is looking like it's getting of to a very strong start.

Cage has a great supporting role as Big Daddy in Lionsgate's potential breakout hit "Kick-Ass" in April, but he's also reuniting with "National Treasure" director John Turteltaub and producer Jerry Bruckheimer on a modern update of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." The flick will find Cage playing Balthazar Blake, a powerful magician who takes young college student Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel) under his wings to to help him defeat the evil schemes of another powerful figure, Maxim Hovath (Alfred Molina).  The whole scenario is inspired by the classic Mickey Mouse segment of "Fantasia," but has been significantly aged up to appeal to much older audiences.  And judging by how much fun he looks like he's having in the latest complete trailer for the picture, "Apprentice" may prove there is still a lot of magic left in Cage's tank.

"Sorcerer's Apprentice" opens nationwide on July 16.
