Gee whiz. Bill Buchanan isn't even cold in the ground, "24."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mykelti Williamson is the latest new cast addition for the upcoming eighth season of FOX's "24."

The trade paper says that Williamson will play the head of CTU New York, a character described as an "MBA-type" with a "razor-sharp intellect." Presumably this means that he won't approve of Jack Bauer's methods. CTU heads almost never do in the beginning. They learn, though.

Other new cast members for "24" Day Eight, which began production last week, include Freddie Prinze Jr., Jennifer Westfeldt, Anil Kapoor, John Boyd and Chris Diamantopoulos.

"24" will return to FOX in January 2010.

TV credits for Williamson include "Kidnapped," "The Fugitive," "Boomtown" and "CSI: NY." No matter what he does, though, he'll always be best known as Bubba from a little film called "Forrest Gump."
